![]() Flat Rocks Campground is a wooded campground with 19 campsites to accommodate both tents and recreational vehicles up to 30’ in length. Flat Rocks Campground will be on the west side of the road. The drive yields spectacular views of Pikes Peak, the prairie, and the rugged Front Range and Tarryall Mountains, and offers quiet camping,diverse mountain biking and camping opportunities, and one of Colorado’s last fire lookouts atop Devils Head. Turn south onto Rampart Range Road for 5 miles. There are absolutely no services along Rampart Range Road and very few "exits" along the way. ![]() The road was built during the Great Depression of the 1930's by the Civil Conservation Corps. They reopen when conditions are favorable for summer recreation. ![]() It is closed to motorized traffic during the annual closure from December 1 to April 1. The road tops out at 2.876m (9,436ft) above the sea level. It’s 61,79km (38.4 miles) long, running north-south from Highway 67 between Sedalia and Deckers to the city of Woodland Park (Teller County). Word on the street is the Forest Service has reopened, at least until December, the south end of Rampart Range Road around the Waldo Canyon burn area. Turn west on Highway 67 for 10 miles to the junction with Rampart Range Road. A gate sits at the beginning of the road, which is open to hikers and bikers year round. Sedimentation needs to be cleared before the lower loop can open. Rampart Range Road begins at the south end of Garden of the Gods Park. Changing conditions, natural hazards, as well as oncoming traffic may be encountered. NOTE : Only the upper loop of the campground is open at this time. 300 can access trails and spurs which are worth the washboard road. However, if you own a four-wheeler or a dirt bike, you will find an abundance of challenging trails to enjoy and test your mettle. This close-to-home recreation opportunity is located approximately 35 miles southwest of Denver and is open to motorized recreation and other recreationists. The quality of the road varies but all is traversable by automobile and a four-wheel drive vehicle is not necessary. The road is located on the boundary of Douglas, Teller and El Paso counties, in the Pike National Forest and runs through the forested crest of the Rampart Range.
